The Burrow StayCation

Bunnies need a break from working hard as your lovable companions.

We do our best to mimic your home space (i.e. using the same litterbox setup, providing preferred toys, treats, hideyholes and enrichment, using the routine you’ve provided) for a stress-free transition while you are away*.

All standard pen spaces start at 5’ x 5’, with opportunity to expand. If your rabbits are free roamers, there are opportunities to free roam (upon request).

We provide daily updates via short video clips and photos. We can also schedule videochat calls with you so that you can interact with your rabbit/s!

All staycation bunnies will receive complimentary toys and treats from popular small businesses like BunnymadeNYC and Buttercup’s Bunny Boutique. All staycation guests are eligible for pen upgrades, depending on availability.

At this time, we can only accommodate small mammal guests (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, and chinchillas). We thank you for your understanding.

staycation faq

  • Yes.

    If located within 35 miles of the Burrow, we include one (1) complimentary transportation service (one carrier/reservation).

    On the day of transport, your rabbit/s will experience top-tier white glove service. You will receive a text message an hour prior with our estimated time of arrival. Once at the Burrow, you will receive a photo update (separate from the daily updates).

    If you need additional assistance with transport, there is an additional $50 fee per carrier.

  • Of course!

    At no additional cost, we can definitely schedule a time, as well as send photos upon request (we send at minimum one update a day, but can send more if you need).

    However, you can see your pet/s live 24/7 with wireless cameras you have access to as part of your pet/s’ staycation reervation.

  • Yes.

    As of May, 1, 2024, we have made it mandatory for all rabbits (unless there is a veterinarian’s note submitted in lieu of RHDV-2 documentation) to be RHDV-2 vaccinated.

    We offer mobile vaccine clinics on site 2 times a year to help our clients stay up to date.

    Guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats + hamsters need to submit a veterinarian’s note confirming good health.

  • No.

    Although not required, we are now offering pet insurance through Pet Sitter’s Associates.

  • Yes.

    We ask that we keep their carrier/s in the event of an emergency.

  • No.

    We provide everything they need, so you do not have to. But for your pet/s’ comfort, you can pack their:

    • Favorite stuffed animal (if not an active chewer)

    • Favorite hidey hole (if cloth hideys are preferred)

    • Favorite chew toys (we will replenish them as they run out / you can list where to purchase extras in your intake form)

    • Favorite puzzles (plastic puzzles are preferred for hygienic purposes)

    • An item of yours that smells like you (recommend a blanket or piece of clothing that you do not mind may get ruined)

  • We use the Blink for all guests. We recommend that you download the app prior to your arrival. We recommend setting up the account at check-in.

    We will email you the log-in credentials separately a week prior to your pet/s’ staycation check-in.

    During your pet's staycation:

    1. You will have full access to the camera. Please do not change any settings.

    2. Audio is already disabled. Please refrain from using the speak to talk function as it will disturb other guests.

    3. Because this camera relies on batteries, you may experience a lag every time you enter the app.

    After your pet's staycation:

    1. No further action is necessary! We will remove you once the staycation is over.

  • You may fill out the form above or call, text or email us. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for a response.

    Same day check-in is currently only available to established clients (via previous staycations, retreats, spa days + consultation appointments).

  • All check-ins / check-outs are by appointment.

    All guests can be checked in as early as 3PM and as late as 10PM on the start date of your reservation.

    All guests can be checked out as early as 7AM and as late as 12PM on the end date of your reservation.

    Please contact us if you will need special accommodations (such as early check-in / late check-out).

  • The deposit is 50% of your pet/s’ stay and is due to complete the reservation. Your reservation will not be finalized without a deposit. Payment plans are available.

    Please note our cancellation policy if you are making reservations during our peak season.

  • We accept cash or check, as well as utilize platforms like Venmo + Zelle. All credit card transactions will incur an additional 3.5% service fee (will be billed separately).

    Full payment is due at the end of services, unless a payment plan is agreed upon prior.

  • Prior to your rabbit/s’ stay, you must submit a completed client intake form. We will respond in 48 hours if there is anything missing or if we need additional information.

  • Yes.

    At your request, a Spa Day full groom (fur, nails, glands and ears) can be included at $100/rabbit (regardless of weight).

    If you choose to decline this service, per the Release of Responsibility, a grooming fee of $150/rabbit (regardless of weight) will be charged if a professional grooming is necessary. The professional groom will last roughly 90 minutes.

    (We determine if your pet/s require a professional grooming based on excessive shedding - i.e. during social playtime, we pet them and patches of fur are coming off vs. normal fur release).

  • We will triage the situation and have access to a rabbit first aid kit. We will immediately contact you about the crisis while simultaneously seeking medical care.

    We are not licensed professionals, but will administer any required medications prescribed by an experienced veterinarian if necessary. If necessary, we will transport your pet/s to your primary veterinarian. If after-hours, we will transport them to an emergency clinic.

    Please note: you will be required to reimburse the Bun Chia Burrow for all medical expenses.

  • Yes! We have been rabbit owners for the last 6+ years, who currently volunteer between different rescues and shelters throughout the Los Angeles and Orange counties. We are well versed in protocol to pursue in a crisis, and have access to different veterinarian clinics and hospitals within a 30 mile radius.

  • The quote given is only valid for the dates initially reserved for.

    If needing to to extend, we must know as soon as possible. Extensions require an additional release of responsibility and can only be done if there is availability.
    You will be charged the daily rate every day after.

    If an extension is not possible, but necessary, we will return your rabbit/s to your home + turn the staycation into 2 in-person consultation visits/day.

    If you are not comfortable with us returning your rabbit/s / access is not possible, we will utilize our overflow location. Rates will vary according to location.

  • StayCations are at minimum one night stay, with discounts for weekly and monthly stays.

  • Your pet/s’ will have:

    • Access to a 5'x5' playpen (for every additional pair: additional 2.5' playpen space will be added, no additional fees)

    • Locally purchased organic vegetables

    • Premium pellets daily (according to routine)

    • Treat testing with high quality fruits* twice a day

      • May also treat test with products purchased from other reputable small businesses

    • Unlimited access to hay of choice (Timothy, oat, orchard, mixed etc.) throughout the day

    • Unlimited access to toys and enrichment activities (if requested on the intake)

      • Included, but not limited to: willow wreaths, seagrass mats, apple chew sticks, tunnel system, cardboard hidey (if indicated in intake)

    • Social playtime (with humans) for minimum one hour* a day

    • Following routine according to the schedule given by pet parent

    • Unlimited photos of your pet/s (request as many as you desire, but we will always send at least one as part of the daily update)

    • Unlimited camera access (Blink)

    • Daily updates of your pet/s 

    • 2x daily cleaning (morning and evening) of their playpen

  • Yes!

    You may opt to include the following (incurs additional fees):

    • Wired water fountain (continuous)

  • While we do care for our own trio (learn more about them here), they are housed in a completely separate building. Your pet/s will not be able to see them or the other guests, as all guests are separated visibly from each other.
